Gift Planning Specialist
I have worked for the Congregation of St. Joseph since July 2005, when I was hired as the Director of Mission Advancement for the Sisters of St. Joseph of Wheeling, located in Wheeling, West Virginia. In this position, I was charged with overseeing our vocations, fundraising and communications efforts and initiating a major and planned giving program for the sisters in Wheeling. After seven formerly independent communities of the Sisters of St. Joseph came together in 2007 to form the Congregation of St. Joseph, I was asked to take the newly created position of Gift Planning Specialist. In this role, I am responsible for identifying, educating, and working with the friends of the congregation who may have an interest in supporting the sisters through their estate and financial plans and through major contributions.
Prior to my employment with the congregation, I was the Advancement Director for Catholic Schools for the Diocese of Wheeling-Charleston, where I served as a consultant to the 32 Catholic schools of the diocese in the areas of marketing, communications and fundraising. Before moving back to my hometown of Wheeling, I served as the Executive Director of the Children's AIDS Network Designed for Interfaith Involvement, Inc. (CANDII, Inc.), in Norfolk, Virginia. Previously, I worked for 8 years with the American Heart Association, serving as the Metro Director for the Virginia Affiliate in Virginia Beach; the Executive Director of the New Hampshire Affiliate; and the Development Director and the Northern Regional Director of the West Virginia Affiliate. I graduated from Central Catholic High School in Wheeling and Bethany College in Bethany, West Virginia, where I earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communications, with an emphasis in broadcasting and public relations.
I live in Wheeling with my twin daughters. I am a member of the Serra Club of Wheeling, which exists to foster and promote vocations to the Catholic priesthood and religious life. I am also a volunteer for the Gabriel Project of West Virginia, which protects and honors life by providing immediate and practical assistance to needy pregnant women and to families with infants and children two years of age and younger. For the past several years I have chaired a diaper drive for The Gabriel Project, which is sponsored annually by the Serra Club of Wheeling. The diaper drive generates over 11,000 donated diapers for the needy families of the area.
